Review Prince of Midnight (Dracula’s Bloodline #1) by Ana Calin

by

Let me tell you a secret - Dracula had a brother. This is true. They called him Radu the Handsome, but his beauty was deceiving, and it hid a deadly secret...

With high ambitions as a journalist, Juliet Jochs travels to the Carpathians to investigate a mysterious and unnaturally beautiful prince. She suspects that he's a dangerous man, and that this mission may cost her life. But, as the prince's masks begin to peel off, she fears she may lose her sanity.

Prince Radek's dark powers suck Juliet into a whirl of hypnotic desire--no woman has ever resisted his lures. But something is different about her, special, and he's growing dangerously addicted to her. She must keep her head above the water if she is to save herself, run away and not look back before he consumes her completely. But can she resist opening the last door to his most terrible secret?

My Review

Juliet, a young and hungry journalist gets sent to europe to meet a prince, little does she know that he is more than a normal prince, he has a dark side.

Radek, is the brother of Dracula. He has a very different curse to Dracula, still dangerous though. He is a handsome man, well in daylight!

I liked both characters and the story. Loved the sex scenes and their growing connection.

The pace really picked up near the end and my heart was pounding.

I felt it could have been even better if the characters were developed a smidgen deeper.

I love a paranormal read and this is an enjoyable romp. Diving into book 2 now.

Prey (Marko Delacroix #1) by Alaska Angelini - Review

Prey

There are things that exist that cannot be explained or comprehended. Creatures so terrifying that the human mind refuses to believe the possibility of existence. Romanticism of evil can only get you so far—dead.

The stories are there throughout history. The proof is not. At least…until now.

We’re here, moving amongst the shadows. Living beneath the homes and streets you believe are safe. You are not safe. You never were. All the times you looked over your shoulder because you felt you were being watched—hunted—you were.

I am Marko Delacroix and I am not redeemable. None of us are. I am a Master Vampire and the worst kind of man there is alive or dead. I will make you fear me, want me, and then then I will kill you. It is the nature of who we are. Of the game. And yes, to us, this IS a game.

Man versus the undead. The undead versus ourselves.

In a new world of change and acceptance, no one is safe. But they don’t know that yet.

**WARNING** This book/series is DARK. If you're looking for a happily ever after from the first book, this book is NOT for you. Although there are romantic elements building for further into the series, you will not be swept off your feet by the last sentence. You will most likely be left open-mouthed, cursing me to hell and back.

**WARNING #2: This book contains adult content, very graphic violence, disturbing situations, and very strong language. Intended for mature audiences

MY REVIEW

I needed a vampire read and this one delivered. I loved the pull/push between Marco and Tessa, it was hate then it wasn't, then was again?

Marco is a master vampire and decided Tessa is his new plaything/dinner. Little does he know Tessa is stronger and more intriguing than he thought and things get messy, but she still has to die eventually.

Hunter, Tessa's best friend tries to intervene between the two, knowing Tessa's life is in danger but it made me worry for his life.

This is no fluffy vampire romance, it really is a darker read but well worth it.

I didn't check out how many books were in the series and there are 5! I shall read on, I have no choice after the ending and I just hope the other books keep me as desperate to get to the next page.

4.5 stars

Series

I have finished this series and it kept me compelled to keep reading all the way through.  If I share my reviews of books 2-5 it would spoil the journey!  I loved its darkness and twists and turns.  The relationships are constantly tested and changed but the connection between Tessa and Marko is something you can't get enough of.  It truly is a dark and delicious series!

My Review

Where to start with reviewing this book, the final in Eli and Faith's story....

Emotion, romance, strength, pain, love, happiness and tears all appear in this book in no particular order ;)

I loved this book, I stayed up till 130am to finish the book, my eyes were tired, heavy eyes were then complicated by tears welling up and running down my cheeks but I got to end and then didn't want it to be the end!

I'm not gonna go through the storyline as you will already know the story as you have to read book 1 and 2 first. If you haven't started this series yet I would suggest you dive in. I admit in book 1 it took me a while to take to Faith, Eli Woo'ed me straight away! Their story is one you don't want to miss.

5 beautifully emotional stars

Review - Bound by the Moon (The Bound Series #2) by J.F. Holland

Blurb

Bound by The Moon, part of 'The Bound Series'. (Shifter Romance Serial, not a standalone, the story carries on throughout the series so needs to be read in order).

Jaden Matthews has now found, and fallen, for Maya Rawlings, his mate. They need to perform the binding ceremony, but their plans are hitting a few snags. Namely the rogues', which are stalking Maya.

If they don't complete the ceremony, Jaden will become the Jaguar he shifts into, for the rest of the animal's lifespan. No more immortality, or humanity, and no more Maya, and forever.

Helena, Maya's mother, is back from the dead, and her cousin Lana, is also on the rogues' radar. The stakes have just gotten higher, it's no longer just Maya's life that is in danger. The battle has begun to keep Maya, and her family safe.

More immortals have offered their help to eliminate the threat. The rogues' actions and indiscriminate kills are also threatening discovery by humans.

The game of cat-and-mouse has begun. Who will be the victor?

Contains erotic scenes, profanity, and gore

MY REVIEW

*Romance, matings, danger and a sprinkling of humorous banter make this a good read.*

Book 2 in The Bound Series starts where book 1 finished off. In my opinion you need to read in order to get to know the characthers and story.

Jaden and Maya are an entertaining couple, their connection and love for one another have grown very quickly and you can feel it. Spoiler alert.... They finally bind together in this book, it is not as perfect as they would have planned though....
With Maya wrapped so tightly around him, he'd never been so uncomfortable in his life. Her heels were dug into his arse, and her dress was bunched up between them. Add in the fact that the zipper of his jeans was digging into his groin, and that she'd probably have a belt buckle mark on her stomach, he was having a fucking ball.
The pair of them are very early in their relationship, but there is love and lots of passion, they both need to learn about censoring the things they say at times.

"Welcome to cat sex baby. Didn't you know cats can go for hours, with very little downtime," he informed her. "In the wild, one cat will service many females," Jaden informed her, and Maya hissed. "Not in the human world they don't, not unless they want to lose certain appendages," she informed him.

Along with Maya and Jaden, there are lots of fabulous new characthers bought into the story, I love the variety of paranormals, the vamp and the gargoyle have definitely taken my interest.

There is a despicable man, Maya's dad
"I did enjoy the show earlier; pity you didn't undress her though. Quite naughty of you to spoil our fun," he said again. - maya's dad to Jaden

He and his cronies are horrid and a danger to everyone in the town, luckily there is a big band of goodies ready to defend their community and the humans too.

The story is romance based and mates finding one another but the danger lurking in the background keeps them all busy.
"When did the town turn into an episode of Midsummer Murders?" Balin asked grimly.
Lana and Balin'ss story is going to be fun. On to book 3.

Review - Moon Sworn by J F Holland #pnr #shifters

Blurb

Moon Sworn is an introduction to 'The Bound Series', (Heated Shifter Romance). The story and the characters continue throughout the Paranormal Romance Serial. (Not a standalone).

At 4-years old Maya Rawlings witnessed her own father horrifically murder her mother. Brought up by an older aunt she knows nothing of her family history.

She wants a family of her own to make up for all that she's lost, but it's difficult to achieve when she's not attracted to anyone. That is until the night of her 21st birthday when a strange mark appears on the palm of her hand. The mark was followed by re-currant nightmares of fleeing for her life, and the voice of a man offering her things she's always dreamed of. Is he real or is she finally losing her mind?

Jaden Matthews is a loner who never settles in one place. He doesn't do forever, not after the murder of his parents and younger brother. That is until fate decides to step in and a mark appears on his hand, it seems he now has a mate.

After waiting for 21-years for her to mature, the clock is now ticking. First, he needs to find her and his search leads him back to a place he'd vowed never to return. He's not the only one there hunting her though.

Can he use his skills to not only get rid of the threat to her life but also persuade her to agree to the binding? Or will he be destined to walk a limited lifespan alone, as the animal he becomes?

Contains erotic scenes and profanity.

My Review

I love discovering a new shifter series, this is a series by an author I haven't read before so you never know what to expect! I dived in and liked how Jaden was communicating with Maya, telepathically. They had never met but they are mates and upon their first meeting it got hot and heavy quickly, it seemed a little one sided at one point and made me a little uncomfortable, but then it is Paranormal and animals act differently, and Jaden felt bad, so don't be put off by that scene as you will miss out on a good read.
He was leaving his mark, as well as his scent, all over her, before this was over. He would make sure no other male would dare come near her, which at least would appease the cat, and the man, if he were being honest. The cat was hissing and clawing at him, incensed by the abhorrent scent of another male on his female. However, the man, he was disgusted with his own behaviour, and not being able to control it. Jaden was riddled with shame that he could have treated her so roughly, ignoring her fear and anxiety.
Maya is not a tame woman, so Jaden has his hands full getting to know her a little more. They are mates so the call to mate is strong between them but there is danger around and a few surprises too.
"Daniel, you just called out Daniel?" he looked at her again and realised her eyes were laughing at him. "Well as you decided it was okay to get in my pants while I was asleep, I decided it was okay to pretend you were someone else."
I mentioned they communicate a lot in their heads and I loved it's like couples texting in modern contemporary romances. It does get difficult for them as shielding thoughts is a skill to learn.
'Maya, if you don't like my thoughts, stay the fuck out of my head.' He snarled, showing her a mental picture of a she-cat with horns, and she threw him back an image of him with a flaccid dick and his balls swollen and dark blue.
Jaden is quite an alpha male, apparently a rich one too but meeting his mate takes its toll on him and a softer side is discovered. Maya discovers a lot about herself through the book and we get to meet quite a few other characthers, some very interesting ones.
"You are mine. You were given to me," he used his other hand to trace the mate mark on her palm with his thumb. "This is my proof that you are mine, and this." He told her, holding up his own hand, showing her his own mark. "This is the proof that I am yours.
I like the shifter world the author has set up, the men may be alpha but the women have all the power - not going to explain exactly how as that would be a spoiler!

The book doesn't end exactly where I would have liked but its a series and looks like book 2 starts where this one finished. Looking forward to diving into book 2.

4 Stars - give it a go.
