NOW LIVE Some Kind of Love - A Second Chance Love Story

NOW LIVE

Some Kind of Love - A Second Chance Love Story

I hadn’t planned to ever return to the small town of my childhood.
It suffocated me.
It also had Freddy Bale and I definitely didn’t plan on seeing him again.
He broke my eighteen year old heart and left me with secrets which have weighed heavy on my soul.
Now I’m back. Back with secrets. I have no choice but to be here.
What if there’s a chance for us though? What if we could have a life, a future together? The time that I spend with him makes me think we could be something.
The problem is my heart belongs to someone else, someone I will always love more than Freddy. Someone who could ruin any chance I have with the man I was meant to be with.
Life is never easy and love is even harder.

My Review

There are some authors you just have to read, Anna Bloom is one of mine. I just love her writing and characters. Her characters are real, and flawed, and draw you in along with the storylines.

Some Kind of Love is a second-chance romance. It has lots of feels in it ❤️.

The story fluctuates from the present to throwbacks to Amber at 18 and Freddy at 20, and it took me right back to falling in love, yep teenage love vibes.

I loved the teenage love, but the grown-up passion and pull of Freddy and Amber was even better.

Life has ups and downs and issues that need dealing with like a husband you've separated from and don't love, an uprooted son, and a parent with dementia.

I was rooting for these two, Freddy was so caring, patient, and sexy, with a touch of bad boy. Basically a dreamboat of a book boyfriend.

The ending of the book was perfect, then there was an epilogue and the ending of that made my heart swell and smile too!

5 stars.

MY REVIEW

Looking for a Book Hangover? Look no further pick up The Last Kiss. I couldn't move on to a new book so re-read this!

A beautiful, emotional, and tragic love story.

My heart is in recovery after reading this book. It broke me, made me smile, and was definitely heartwarming.

Jules is amazing and so strong, I also loved Liv the sister and the whirlwind of a niece that reminded me of my daughter. Henri, oui the man of the book, swoon-worthy yes, sexy, business owner, the list could go on!

The chemistry between Henri and Jules is literally bouncing off the pages, I was totally pulled in, lapping up every moment they shared

There were many times I had to dry my eyes before continuing, but I loved this heartbreaking romance.

This is a book that will take you on a fulfilling emotional journey.

Five heartbreaking perfect stars

EXCERPTS

#1

I can feel what living is. It’s in one moment to the next. One breath that leads to another. One touch, one sigh, one glance, creating a perfect moment that is imprinted forever.
All I want is his kiss. It’s a burn, a desire, a question that needs to be met with an answer
Hands clutch my elbows, but instead of screaming or fending for my life with my handbag as a weapon, I’m shuddering, breathing out a long held bated breath.
Breathing the same air as… as…
“Henri CarrĂ©.” His lips crush into mine and I moan a deep and toe curling sigh.
Fate, you wily beast I thought you’d let me down.
It hits me how much I’ve been craving this moment, desperately waiting without wanting to give meaning to the ache festering under my skin. The grey of my world bursts into colour with the press of his lips.
Henri. The perfect name.

#2

“If I asked you to stay, would you?” He yawns and kisses my ear.
“With all my heart,” I say, because I’m pretty sure when I go home I’ll be leaving what little is left of it here with him. I can’t fight the tears, and I know he knows I’m crying, but he doesn’t say anything, just holding me tight as the lie I’ve created between us takes its hold.
Truth is, I just don’t have a heart to give.

My Review

This starts off right where the last book left us hanging! I couldn't wait to read this book to see what this author would put us through, while keeping my fingers crossed for a happy ending.

I fell right back into the story and caring for characters and as predicted its no easy ride. Lyra and Jack have a deep connection and neither is willing to give up on the other <3 When I was well in the book there was a moment I knew would come and I actually shouted out yes, to the funny looks from my family!

This is a great story and the characters are relatable and likeable. The epilogue finished Lyra and Jacks story perfectly.

EXCERPT

He hesitated, it rippled through the air. His fingers lifted, running through the length of one of my curls. “When I first saw you with Greene that day, I thought I’d hate you. When I first heard you couldn’t play, I thought I’d take pleasure in it. But if you go home, that means I won’t ever get to see you again. And I don’t like the way that makes me feel.”
I frowned up into his face, my throat painfully tight. “What do you mean?”
“I can’t go home, Lyra. Ever.”
“Why?” He stared at me as he battled himself. “Jack?”
Could I stay and play violin here with Jack… is that what he was saying, that he didn’t want me to leave? But why?
“You’re my teacher, you’ve told me numerous times. You’ve made the way you feel about me perfectly clear. Since I’ve been here you’ve acted like you don’t know me. Why would you want me to stay?”
Jack dropped his head, a small huff of breath exhaling through his nostrils. “Because I always want what I can’t have. You should know that by now.”
It all made perfect sense. I’d always be a toy to Jack. Little Lyra Bird, too afraid to fly.
“And you can’t have me.”
“Don’t you see, Lyra. I. Can. Never. Have. You.”
It should have hurt. Even after everything that had changed, the stretch of time that had bridged from then to now. Strangely it didn’t.
“You don’t want me.” I nodded.
I turned to leave, but Jack caught my hand, reeling me back in.
His fingers cupped my face, his nose skimming along the edge of my cheekbone, trailing a pattern it used to know. Then slowly, he pressed a kiss against my cheek. A taste of a kiss. My stomach tightened three knots. I waited with baited breath, suspended in the moment, waiting to see what he would do next. “I’ll get you back to campus if you don’t want to stay here for the rest of your shift.
I pushed my palms flat against his chest, shoving him back. “No way. This is my job. If you don’t like me being here, you can leave. Go drink more bourbon, yeah? Don’t think I can’t smell it on you.” I stalked for the door. “You know what, Jack, I always thought you were nothing like your dad, but now I’m seeing it for what it is. Maybe you are just a controlling bastard too.”
It was a low blow, but in the moment it made me feel better, victorious, vanquished. Once he’d walked away from a little girl. She was long gone.

MY REVIEW

* Brothers Best Friend
* College romance
* Age difference
* Forbidden romance

I want book 2 now 'stamps feet'. I'm loving Lyra and Blues story.

I'm used to this authors stories being based in the UK, so was surprised to find this is set in the USA. There are many tropes mingled into this story, but they're done effortlessly.

I haven't read a college based romance for a while, this book has rekindled my interest in them. I was totally caught up in the story and loving the simmering attraction between Lyra and Blue. Lyra really caught me up in her world, we have nothing in common but I felt attached to her. Blue what a delicious, slightly broken man he is, his caught up in a spiders web. Im hoping Lyra has the courage to fight through the web and free him so they can be together.

This authors writing always pull me in, but watch out as it's not a standalone so there's a cliffy - but I'm not worried!

5 loved it stars

My Review

I couldn't put my kindle down, I loved the characters and their story. I was pulled in within the first few pages.

Ronnie has been through a lot, she's strong in many ways. Her mother is a little overbearing considering she is 35! I found the fact she has social anxiety refreshing as it's so common in the real world.

Matthew, okay how do I put this.... His a little moody at times, but omg his a keeper, especially when you get to know him and how his life has gone.

It is not the first time I've read this author and she has a knack of submerging me within the characters life and story and not letting go until the last page.

My advice, find a few spare hours or most of your Sunday like me and devour this book.

Five stars from me.

Excerpt

“We’ve never kissed.”
Oh God. My stomach plummeted with the minor chords. “No.”
“And physically we don’t know if we are even compatible.” His gaze swept over me. “I mean, you’re a wee lass.”
“Wee lass! Don’t you…”
“But.” His gaze intensified. Heaven crashed to earth and obliterated us.
“But?” Shaky and wanton, I warmed on the inside like a chocolate fondue.
“Since I’ve known you, it’s been the most natural thing to hold your hand. From the earliest days even when I knew I shouldn’t, I still did it. It felt like nothing and everything all at once.”
I breathed in slow. Lest I might pass out.
“So I think if holding your hand feels like everything, then what happens if I do this?”
I forced myself to maintain eye contact as, with his free hand, he used a finger to trail up my throat and along the edge of my coat collar. I held in my breath as he then ran it along my cheekbone, around my ear, slipping into my hair.
“You almost kissed me once.” I stuttered the words, each syllable gushed with the pound of my heart.
“I know.” I could taste his breath, feel the warmth of his mouth hovering just above mine. Sweet Sake and Matthew combined. I wanted to inhale him.

SYNOPSIS
I never meant to fall for a prince… now nothing can be the same again.
It wasn’t meant to be this way… My life with my daughter was safe and protected; perfectly controlled.
Then he came and smashed everything I knew, everything I thought I knew, into pieces.
He broke my heart with his lies and deception, but now he’s under my skin and I can’t go back to the life I once had. All roads lead to him, the king of my heart, the man I would change everything for.
But with royalty comes obligation and expectation. Everyone wants a piece of him.
Inside the palace walls, he swears to keep us safe, yet I know the promise isn’t his to make.
Can he be the person his country needs while also loving us? Can I be the woman who stands proud by his side, or will I always be the daughter of a drug addict who has no place in the higher realms of society?
He says we can make it work, that we can fight tradition and give his people something new.
I wonder what price we will pay to be free to live our dream.
A heart-stopping Rags to Riches tale.

REVIEW

5 Royal Stars
 *****
Started Scandal Queen as soon as I finished Tabloid Princess, it starts off where book 1 finishes.

Emotions felt while reading in no particular order..... Worried, swooned, got anxious, smiled lots, angsty, swooned some more, got tearful and more swooning, lots of smiling.

A great conclusion to Leia and Oliver's story, both wonderful characters, both strong and full of love with a caring nature. Little Daisy and Nana make it all that more real.

The romance between Leia and Oliver is heart-warming and you feel the passion through the writing. You do wonder though if they'll ever get a moment when they're not being judged or having a moment ruined by royal life or something from Leia's life being dug up.

I found their story delightful and I loved being absorbed into this royal/fairytale romance. I feel a book hangover coming on, missing Ollie and Leia already!

Review - Tabloid Princess (Tabloid Princess #1) by Anna Bloom

Tabloid Princess
by

She didn’t believe in fairy tales… until she fell for a prince.

Single mother, Leia Lawrence didn't have a storybook childhood.
Now? Dating… men…? She’d rather stay in her tower of solitude.

Until her path crosses with the heir to the British throne.

He should be the bad boy the press portray him as.
He isn’t.
He should be as arrogant as the rich elites she despises.
He isn’t
He should be easy to walk away from.
Oh, boy, he isn’t.

Oliver is nothing like the man she expects. Smart, funny and caring, he could push through every defence she has in place.
But one passing moment could change everything. It could bring the press to her door and unbury secrets she thinks are long dead.

What will he be willing to do to protect her?
She has nowhere left to turn, except to her prince.
The only thing she can do is wait and see if he’ll choose to protect his country… or her…

My Review

A story so fanciful but so wonderful, I loved it!

When Leia meets Oliver the future king of Great Britain she doesn't hold back, says exactly what she thinks. In a way she reminds of Bridgette Jones! Leia had an undesirable upbringing and is also a single mum - a perfect match for a prince.

Prince Oliver.... Let me pick myself off the floor, has he tried saying Princess Tracey, I may come with 3 grown-ish kids and hubby but I can squeeze him in somewhere đŸ™‚. Seriously his swoon-worthy, he might mess up a little here and there but in my opinion all for the right reason.

This book is no fairytale, well it is sort of, but with Leia's life and work it brings up issues people deal with daily.

I'm diving into book 2 now as I can't wait to see how this will work out, personally I think she would make a caring and compassionate princess, fingers crossed.

My Review

Where to start with reviewing this book, the final in Eli and Faith's story....

Emotion, romance, strength, pain, love, happiness and tears all appear in this book in no particular order ;)

I loved this book, I stayed up till 130am to finish the book, my eyes were tired, heavy eyes were then complicated by tears welling up and running down my cheeks but I got to end and then didn't want it to be the end!

I'm not gonna go through the storyline as you will already know the story as you have to read book 1 and 2 first. If you haven't started this series yet I would suggest you dive in. I admit in book 1 it took me a while to take to Faith, Eli Woo'ed me straight away! Their story is one you don't want to miss.

5 beautifully emotional stars

*****My Review*****
Eli I love you, forget that rough around the edges, difficult Faith! Okay, Faith is all sorts of awesome, so strong, even if she doesn't know it half the time, oh yes she's passionate about her art and the recipient of her heart too.
Talking PASSION, Eli and Faith are so hot together, they literally smolder.
I loved this installment, yes it had a lot of heartache and pain in, but that mixed with following Eli and Faith trying to work things out, with the multitude of twists and turns turned this into a page-turner of a book.
I am so desperate for book 3 now and I know its not going to be a walk in the park too.
