My Review

What a great read! This book starts with a seriously hot scene, which has a surprising end....

I love an MM romance but this one has an investigation into a killer going through it too!

Trevor, his bruised physically and mentally from what happened in another relationship - he has issues with touching and suffers devastating panic attacks - for all of these reasons his moved to a small town to work as a deputy police officer.

Logan, his a special forces soldier, his returned home to care for his mother who has dementia and is in need of help at home. Logan is the golden boy of his hometown, he was a school sports star and of course his served his country, he has a secret though - his gay.

When these two meet there is an instant attraction and they don't waste time, Trevor is all for a quickie, but his not looking for anything more. Logan, isn't 'out' but is seriously attracted to Trevor.

All through the book we get flashbacks to Logans time in the forces and it really helps you to get to know and understand him as a man - his really lovely - sexy - caring - dangerously skilled - did I mention sexy? Trevor is stronger than he thinks he is, he's good at his job - confident in his sexuality - still he is vulnerable at times and he hates that.

The thriller/mystery part of the story kept me on my toes. It's not all killing and investigations, there's a relationship developing and some seriously sexy interludes.

I'm not sure who had it harder through this book Trevor or Logan? It is not an easy ride, but its passionate and addictive.

I found the other characthers in the book intriguing and they added to the story, how could you not like Carson! the fact that Logan has other business interests added another interesting side to Logan.

This book knocked me for six in parts!

Great MM read - recommended.

Excerpt
Trevor shook his head and crossed the lot to his black and chrome F-250. When he’d applied for the job, Noah had warned him about the bigotry still prevalent in the deep Delta of Mississippi. Focused on escape, Trevor hadn’t cared; he still didn’t as long as the homophobic bastards left him alone. He sighed at his own prejudice. Glover had in no way condemned him for his sexual orientation. Nothing required the man to talk to him away from work. Trevor needed to let go of the perceived mistrust. For some reason, it hadn’t been a problem in Miami; maybe it was the difference in the city and the rural location.Twenty minutes later, he pulled up at the neat three-bedroom ranch style home he shared with Noah. A shiny, mint green Mustang sat at the curb near the mailbox, leaving a space for Trevor’s truck beside Noah’s Jag. Trevor’s gut twisted. It’s just casual sex between friends, Trev. Meaningless. No strings. You need this. The inner voice piped up. His fingers clenched around the steering wheel as he rested his head on the back of the seat and closed his eyes. Braeden’s face superimposed itself on the backs of his eyelids. His heart squeezed painfully.Warm, laughing brown eyes, full mouth curved in a devilish smirk, shoulder length curly black hair loose against his back and his tanned face free of worry. The image morphed and the features became hard, the eyes narrowed, smile gone, hatred twisted his lover’s face. Trevor forced away the last image he had of his former partner. “Fuck you, Braeden Gustinvil. You and all of the Rojas bacrim.” The pain laced words echoed in the quiet cab. A lover and a traitor. Trevor’s eyes snapped open before the memories pierced the wall he’d erected around them. He reached for the keys just as the front door of the house swung open. Clad in perfectly pressed slacks and a white button down, minus the tie he usually wore, Noah smiled and waved. He lifted the glass of red in his hand and wiggled it in invitation. Blond and blue eyed, he was the exact opposite of Brae; in more ways than physical appearance. Trevor plastered on a smile to smother the curse on his tongue and popped the door open. Anxiety wormed its way through his belly as he strode up the walk.“You couldn’t have timed it better. Ashton’s only been here for about fifteen minutes. Come inside, I’ll pour you some wine.” Noah placed a possessive hand at the small of Trevor’s back. The knot in Trevor’s gut doubled in size. Nausea tickled his throat.“Got anything stronger?” He asked adroitly moving away when they cleared the doorway. He wasn’t sure what was going on with Noah’s sudden attentiveness, but it was making his apprehension worse.
He’d agreed to the little get together to shut Noah up and get him off of the phone. Faced with the follow through, he wasn’t sure he could do it. A year and a half after the…separation, and his skin still crawled when someone touched him. “Always keep vodka for you, Trev. You know where it is.” If he noticed Trevor shrugging off his touch, Noah didn’t react. He moved into the kitchen, calling over his shoulder. “Ash, be a dear and finish setting the table would you. I’ll be right in with the main course.” Behind him, a throat cleared. Trevor spun slowly on his heel fighting the urge to strike out. What the hell was wrong with him? Why couldn't he function like a normal human being? He nodded at the man standing beside the table. Like Noah, Ashton Stevens was blond and blue eyed with an easy smile. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Trevor. Noah’s told me quite a bit about you.” Ashton moved with an innate grace and placed the plates around one end of the long table. Silverware was laid out precisely; yet, no move was made in his direction. Noah’s stories must have included his aversion to being touched. Trevor poured himself a snifter full of the clear alcohol and forced his feet to move toward the table. “I, ah. It’s nice to meet you, too.” Trevor tossed back a swallow of the vodka and sucked his teeth at the fire racing down his throat. What the hell did you say to a stranger who planned to fuck and suck you before the night was out? Inane small talk didn’t seem to fit the bill. He opened his mouth, but Ashton spoke first.
