It Started With A Kiss by Lisa Hobman - Review

It Started With A Kiss
by
Lisa Hobman

Can two strangers' dreams lead to their destiny?

American Star Mendoza is living in her dream location, Edinburgh, a place she discovered in British novels while growing up.

Employed at a trendy city centre coffee shop, quirky, pink-haired Star spends her days fantasising about a handsome businessman she serves daily.

He's totally out of her league but a girl can dream, right?

Fin Hunter is exhausted from striving for his father's elusive love and approval, and of following a life path of his family’s making.

When things go drastically wrong Fin decides it’s time to stand on his own two feet and follow his own dream.

Star is bereft when her handsome stranger stops coming to her coffee shop, but a chance encounter in the most unlikely of places leaves her wondering if her fantasy could now become a reality?

Can opposites attract over their love of a city and music or is their story simply doomed to fail?

My Review

I was pulled into this story early on and loved the characters and setting.

First of all, it's set in Edinburgh, a place I've visited a few times so I know some of the places the author talks about and with the descriptions, I was almost there again!

Fin, what's not to like, he's an all-around good guy, yes he is a successful lawyer that comes from money, but he has many layers that you'll love discovering.

Star is a unique character, with pink hair, and tattoos but surprisingly quite reserved.

I found the two of them together a wonderful cocktail, they really had a pull.

One to add to your TBR if you like a hot Scots Man and opposites attract.

My Review

I feel all warm and fuzzy after finishing the latest coupling story set on Skye. ❤️

Caitlin is a single mother to a teenager, bakery owner, and active member of the Skye community. She's decided it's time to look for love.

Caitlin's journey is full of friendships, humour, and drama.

Let's talk men, there's Lyle, Bram, and Archie - I liked two of them, loved one of them, and one of them well you'll see when you read it.

Another comforting, entertaining read from this series.

Skye is still on my must-visit list and ill be visiting again through this series hopefully.

Not Just My Heart by Em Taylor - New Release - Review

Not Just My Heart
by
Em Taylor

Six years ago, I’d made the stupidest mistake of my life.
I’d told Lacey Kendrick, I wanted to break up.
So she’d kicked me out her car, told me to move my stuff out her flat and blocked me on her phone.

And the stupid thing is. I hadn’t realised what a monumental idiot I’d been until I saw her, after all this time, in a pub in Glasgow.
The chemistry was still there. I could still make her laugh, blush, want me.
But boy, did she still hold a grudge. I was going to have to work to win her round. Lacey was worth it though. That smile. That body. The way she responded to my touch.
I was soon to find out, however, that winning her over again would be the easy part. I had a secret weapon when it came to her … in my boxers.
It was becoming patently obvious, however, that six years ago it was not just Lacey’s heart I had broken when I'd walked away from our relationship.

This is a second chance romance set in Glasgow Scotland. It has adult themes and content.

My Review

Second chance romance at its best, there's witty lines, cuteness, humour and HEAT!

When your best friends decide to get married and tell you the best man is gonna be your old flame, it's not perfect especially when you're the maid of honour.

The sexual tension between Rory and Lacey is very evident and omg when they do go there again it's sexual gymnastics, very hot!

There is so much PASSION, but I loved how the tenderness crept back in without them planning it.

I cared about both of the characters and understood Lacey's reservations, but she couldn't really resist Rory with his equipment and skills. They were made for each other.

The setting is Scotland, and I have to admit I love books set in Scotland - its a beautiful place. The main characters are obviously Rory and Lacey, but there's also their best friends and Jonas, he is Lacey's brother and his a great character and plays his part in the story, along with his parents.

This is a steamy romance, they really couldn't keep their hands off one another but there's a lot more to the story.

Soundtrack for Not Just My Heart

1. More Hearts than Mine by Ingrid Andress - This song was the inspiration for the book. It describes taking your other half home to meet your parents for the first time and mum loving them immediately while dad pretends to hate him while actually liking him. Meanwhile the younger sibling annoys them with lots of questions. But if they break up, more hearts will be broken than just the singer’s. So I wondered what would happen if that couple got back together and the ramifications for the family.

2. Beyonce – All the Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it).

3. Ride – Chase Rice

4. No one – Alicia Keys

5. Body Like a Back Road – Sam Hunt

6. Lady Marmalade – All Saints

7. I will always love you – Dolly Parton

8. Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley

9. I can take it from there – Chris Young.

10 Six Feet Apart – Luke Combs (Just because the book was written during lockdown and this song gave me hope throughout that life would get better).

About the Author

Hi. My name is Em Taylor. I live in Glasgow in Scotland. I got into writing in 2011 when I started writing Star Trek Voyager Fan Fiction under the pen name Libby Kim. I then turned to writing my own stories, originally under the pen name Krystal Brookes. When I started writing Regency romances, I decided to do it under my own name. Since then I have written different sub-genres of romance- mainly contemporary, Regency, and vampire. Some of my own favourite authors are Vi Keeland, Penelope Ward, Lauren Blakely, Lynsay Sands, Tessa Dare, Samantha Holt, Em Petrova, Molly Harper, JF Holland, Mary Balogh.

When I'm not writing, I work as a care assistant with people who have acquired brain injuries. The main passion in my free time is attending country music concerts, although that's not possible at present. So I sing along loudly in my car. I hope you enjoy Not Just my Heart which was inspired by a country music song called More Hearts than Mine by the uber-talented Ingrid Andress.

Louise was pleased when her friend found love with the cowboy turned viscount, Cole Macallan eighteen months ago. Really pleased. She’s even helping her now pregnant friend to plan her wedding, even if Rhona is a bit of a Bridezilla. So it’s no bother to go to Glasgow Airport to pick up Cole’s brother, Jake and bring him back to Strathdougall. But that’s where the perfectly laid scheme goes agley – to quote Robert Burns.

A first kiss before they’ve been introduced, Jake’s oversharing about his disability and an argument about a suitcase means their friendship doesn’t get off to the best of starts. But when a flood at the hotel threatens the wedding Jake and Lou have to put their growing attraction aside and work together to save the wedding and stop Bridezilla from finding out and losing her mind completely.
Can Jake and Lou really forge any kind of relationship? A cowboy with a below-knee amputation and a Scottish accountant with a quick tongue and bad habit of speaking without thinking? Can a cowboy lose his heart to a girl who’s afraid to be wrangled?

He's Captured my Heart by Karen Frances

Book blurb

Like any dutiful Scottish daughter, Libby Stewart puts her family first. She’s spent months helping her brother, a single father, care for his new daughter. The strain of her family commitments led to the painful demise of a two-year relationship. As Libby nurses her broken heart and relishes time with her niece, her father offers her a job managing his hotel. She’s ready to focus on her career and get her life back on track.

Alexander Mathews, a handsome American businessman who is staying at the hotel, has other plans for Libby. She’s taken aback when she meets Alex. He strikes her as arrogant and domineering, but regardless, the sexual tension between them is palpable. Libby fancies herself a good girl, but Alex quickly seduces her. Libby finds she is soon addicted to the passion she feels in Alex’s skilful hands.

Libby has never been so confused. Who is Alex Mathews, really? An international playboy, or truly the man of her dreams? When a confrontation with her ex-boyfriend turns violent and she questions Alex’s loyalty to her, Libby must decide if she wants to let this charismatic stranger from across the pond truly capture her heart.

My Review

First off I really like how we get introduced to Libby, she's an independent, strong woman, she also cares for her family deeply, they live in Scotland and run a successful hotel.

Alex is an American businessman, he has business with Libby's dad and will be staying at the hotel that Libby has took over as manager.

At first i found Alex a tad rude, his first move was out of order and to be honest I hadn't felt the attraction between them at that time. He soon grew on me, for some reason I imagined him as a David Gandy lookalike! Alex and Libby spend a lot of time together and soon develop feelings for one another, they can't keep there hands off each other!

One of the things I liked about Alex was he didn't flash money about, it was obvious he had plenty and he was very confident, he was very warm and touchy with Libby, - cute touches like rubbing her arm or tender kisses. ❤️

Having visited the area where story is based it made it more enjoyable. If you haven't been to Scotland the author gives you a flavour of what your missing.

All new relationships have issues, especially when that start fast and get deep quickly.

I enjoyed the authors writing and when I turned to last page I was like no......

Could there relationship be anymore? Who knows, will have to wait for next book.

**I was gifted a copy for an honest review**

** Four Stars **
