The Blackthorne Vampires by Kim Loraine - Review

The Blackthorne Vampires (3 Book Series)

Have you read this vampire series? I have just finished it and I recommend it. I wrote a small review late last night for book 3 - will be expanding it, but in some ways it says enough!

'Omg that was a fab read, the author put us through a lot. I have so many emotions. An eventful but perfect finish to Cashel and Olivia's story.' - five stars TVRBB

Blood Captive

He wanted me for my blood...

Living on the run was all I'd ever known. My life was unstable, but at least I wasn't alone. That all changed when my mother was murdered.

I ran from the unknown creatures she'd always feared. Until the day I stopped being afraid.
That was my first mistake.

Cashel Blackthorne took me as his captive, but more than that, he opened my eyes to the terrible truth of the world.

Vampires exist, and I am the key to their salvation.

The Blackthorne vampires need my blood but their prince desires more--me.
There's something between us neither of us can deny.

He is my captor, but I'll be his ruin

My Review

Take a bite into this book, it's a good one!

Olivia's life changes when she's out for drinks one night, she's taken to a houseful of vampires.

Talking vampires there's a few there, the main ones being the king who is beyond horrible, along with his children. Cashel is the eldest child and his dad the king loves tormenting him.

I didn't like Cashel at all to begin with but he showed a few good qualities and a softer side as the story went on. I kept wondering which is the real him!

Olivia, she is sassy maybe too sassy considering she's in a house of vamps and her blood smells so good! She is strong-willed though, but Cashel is her weakness, she wants him or is she playing him and us?

Vampires are one of my fave genres, so add in some good characters and an interesting storyline and I got a book I really enjoyed.

Did I mention there's a cliffy... Book 2 here I come.

***** ***** ***** ***** *****

Blood Traitor

Cashel Blackthorne took me captive.

I hated him.
I wanted him.
I fell for him.

Then everything I knew changed.
I got away from the Blackthorne vampires, but they still want my blood. Living a nomadic life with a band of hunters, I learned how to fight and how to defend myself.

Now I’m torn between the deep feelings I’ve developed for my captor and the new attraction I have for Logan, the rugged hunter who came for me.

Cashel Blackthorne may have taken my heart, but he also taught me a lesson...

Never trust a vampire.

My Review

Book 2 carries on from where book 1 ended, yes that cliff hanger and it doesn't get less angsty for a while, does it at all? I'm not sure as the vamps are still desperate to keep Olivia! There's danger everywhere and surprises.

Cashel, really catches you in this book, just in case he didn't in book 1. I found I liked his siblings a lot more in this book. Some of the other characters are horrid though.

Logan the vampire hunter was nice but no Cashel.

I loved Olivia and Cashel's growing connection and how protective they are of each other.

The book ends on another cliffy though, so book 3 can't be kept waiting too long.

Blood Heir

*The final chapter in Cashel and Olivia's story*

Every love story has an ending. This is mine.

Cashel Blackthorne has been my kidnapper, my tormentor, my protecter, and my lover.
Now he’s shattered us beyond repair.

He sacrificed his freedom to give me mine, only to have our bond completely broken. I lost him just when I truly found him. I need to bring him back to me, to save him from the fate he set for himself, and most of all, to find a cure.

Since all this began, I’ve been their prey, but the tables have turned and this time, I’m the hunter. The Blackthorne vampires won’t take anything from me again

My Review

Omg that was a fab read, the author put us through a lot. I have so many emotions. An eventful but perfect finish to Cashel and Olivia's story.

Some books you know which way they will go, I thought I knew with this one but every time I thought ok, something else happened and took us on another twist.

Lucas what can I say, his a darling, a vampire darling but omg he is special.

Cashel is desperate to get back to Olivia but what he comes back to is not what he expected and seriously complicates what his plans were.

Olivia is strong and inquisitive, sometimes too much and puts herself in danger. She has to muster every strength she has to survive this book.

My heartfelt like it would break a few times through this book. The storyline flowed and couldn't wait to get back to the book every chance I got.

Review Prince of Midnight (Dracula’s Bloodline #1) by Ana Calin

by

Let me tell you a secret - Dracula had a brother. This is true. They called him Radu the Handsome, but his beauty was deceiving, and it hid a deadly secret...

With high ambitions as a journalist, Juliet Jochs travels to the Carpathians to investigate a mysterious and unnaturally beautiful prince. She suspects that he's a dangerous man, and that this mission may cost her life. But, as the prince's masks begin to peel off, she fears she may lose her sanity.

Prince Radek's dark powers suck Juliet into a whirl of hypnotic desire--no woman has ever resisted his lures. But something is different about her, special, and he's growing dangerously addicted to her. She must keep her head above the water if she is to save herself, run away and not look back before he consumes her completely. But can she resist opening the last door to his most terrible secret?

My Review

Juliet, a young and hungry journalist gets sent to europe to meet a prince, little does she know that he is more than a normal prince, he has a dark side.

Radek, is the brother of Dracula. He has a very different curse to Dracula, still dangerous though. He is a handsome man, well in daylight!

I liked both characters and the story. Loved the sex scenes and their growing connection.

The pace really picked up near the end and my heart was pounding.

I felt it could have been even better if the characters were developed a smidgen deeper.

I love a paranormal read and this is an enjoyable romp. Diving into book 2 now.

Warning: This bad boy dark romance contains explicit scenes of dubious consent, graphic violence and sex. It is for adults only.

REVIEW - 3.5 STARS

Dark and sexy.... Yes this is a dark read, its based on Kyle, he is the second in command in a Mexican Cartel.

Chloe is a complicated woman, she a drug mule, moves fenced stuff whatever needed, until she comes to a cropper and is standing on a block of ice about to be killed or shared by a Mexican cartel lord.

Kyle sees something in Chloe and ask his brother for a BONUS, Chloe, and she gratefully goes down on him minutes later - yes there's lots of sex, BUT Chloe is never really forced by Kyle she enjoys sex it seems, plus she knows it makes him happy and she like making people happy to stay alive so as I mentioned before she is complicated but strangely strong in her own way.

I love a dark read and this book hits that mark. I like the progression of Kyle and Chloe's relationship, Kyle is no Mr nice guy, he never will be in his line of work but he shows compassion and affection towards his Bonus.

A dark cartel romance.

“You’re the big boss.” She looked up at me and smiled. She was dressed in a cheap cotton shirt and jeans that should be on the burn pile, but that smile was pure gold. This girl had guts.

“I told José he was a fool to try and cheat you,” she said. “I wasn’t part of it, and I don’t work for you. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

She’d heard about our policy protecting bystanders. Of course it doesn’t apply to anyone whose eyewitness testimony can put me in a courtroom. Well, try to put me in a courtroom. In Mexico nobody would dare accuse me, and I’ve enough resources in England to guarantee a police investigation would come to nothing, but it’s not my style to take chances. Solitaire would be going into the ground along with Escamilla.

“Mr Vazquez,” Solitaire gave me her best smile. “I don’t expect something for nothing.” She dropped her voice. “You’d like me,” she whispered. “I’ve heard about you. We’re the same.”

“Are we?”

“Yes, I can make you very happy.” She brushed my hand over her cheek and then kissed my palm. “I’m a very good girl,” she said quietly. “Unless you prefer a naughty one?”

She sucked my thumb, and I was instantly rock hard.

----------------------------

When cartel boss Arturo Vazquez discovers his girlfriend Gina is a DEA rat and his deputy Escamilla is staging a take-over, Arturo fixes his problems by killing everyone - except for Solitaire, Escamilla’s unwilling mistress. Solitaire is intelligent, tough, and shares Arturo’s interest in BDSM. Arturo falls head over heels but someone is leaking information - and the evidence point at Solitaire.

Songbird is a complete and self standing novel in the Zeta series. Warning: This bad boy dark romance contains explicit scenes of dubious consent, graphic violence and strong language. It is for adults only.

REVIEW - 4 STARS

Dark, yes that's one way to describe the start of this book, I thought not sure I can deal with so much brutality. Then Arturo the leading man in this book and Cartel boss remembered how he held a woman prisoner for a month and turned her in a sex machine (for anyone) and I nearly threw up. I was going to stop reading then as how can anyone deserve love if they can do something so degrading to woman, BUT I carried on and damn it I loved Solitaire and Arturo's relationship.

Arturo is the boss and his brutal but his protective of his family and people that are loyal to him, I loved his caring side - the brutal side not so much.

Solitaire - she becomes Arturo's woman, she falls into the role easily and it's not just because he wants her, she wants him too. She has some memory issues which adds to the wonder what's gonna come up later.

I enjoyed this book more than book 1, just remember this is a romance in a dark world!

I could’ve strangled her. She knew it too because she stepped away quickly. “Touch me and I’ll have you!” she snarled.
“Bruja mala leche! What the fuck do you think you’re playing at! You can’t push me around!”
“Sure I can.” Her eyes were slate grey, the same colour as the sky, and just as cold. “I need help, and you’re going to give it.”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“I’ve got a situation. I need someone who isn’t afraid of murder and mayhem.”
I should have charmed her, offered to help and maybe it would have settled it, but I was too mad to even consider it. “Help you? Over my dead body!”
She shrugged. “We can do it that way, too.” She took out her phone. “I’ll call you soon, hopefully within the hour. If you still refuse, I call Smith.” The eyes were hard. “I’d rather not shop you, because I hate that bastard, but I will if you make me.”
I gave her my number. I mean, I wanted to kill her, but in London they notice things like bodies in the street. Especially if you’re careless enough to do it in broad daylight next to a cop shop.

Quique is having a bad time. Back in Mexico his marriage has fallen apart and his wife has made him a laughing stock by cheating on him. Now he’s in London and finding himself out of his depth with a complex commercial deal. To make things worse, Natalia Truelove, a chef and pub manager, is blackmailing him. Quique is ready to commit murder and he’s pretty sure who his first victim will be.

Dirty Dealings is a self standing and complete novel in the Zeta cartel series. Warning: This bad boy romance contains strong adult language and themes as well as graphic violence and fully depicted love scenes. It is for adults only.
