This is a two-novella book, both of these stories have a dark side, actually mostly dark but there is a warm side to them also.
Hero in Disguise
This is the shorter of the two stories and features a woman getting lost and then kidnapped by neo-nazis, it has a disturbing edge to it. All is not lost as Decker isn't what he seems and there may be some hope for our heroine and all the other captives. I felt the story could have been fleshed out more, it did make an interesting read though.

Pallid Slave
This story caught my attention, a pallid slave is a twin who has lost their sibling so in doing so lose their special lifeblood and colour - should say this is an alien world. Once you become Pallid you have no worth and become a slave. Pike and Cross are life blood twins and transport pallid to their new homes/captors, this time they are picking up Truth - she is different to the others they transport, she has spirit. They have 720 hours until they deliver her and a lot happens between them. I really liked the difference between Pike and Cross, I found Cross so sweet but Pike was a little harsh but as I said a lot happens and things change.
This is a really interesting tale and I enjoyed the darkness as much as the light!
