Blurb

Shay Mallory has just learned she comes from a long line of sorcery! She has inherited her Nanna’s magic after her death and she has no idea how to control it. She has help from those around her but the one that has her hot and blushing is the handsome sorcerer from Canada, Pierce Gresham.

What would you do if in twenty-four hours you lost your Nanna AND found out you came from a long lineage of sorcery? I've inherited magic I can’t control, which has caused me to blow up my laptop and almost destroy a fifty-thousand-dollar Ming vase. My mother, while cold my whole life, is now even more cracked up than I originally thought, and to top the whole day off, I’m supposed to marry a man I’ve been betrothed to since I was five years old. There's not enough magic or Xanax to fix these problems!

Come visit Seattle where all the magic is happening!

My Review

"What would you do if in twenty-four hours you lost your Nanna AND found out you came from a long lineage of sorcerers and sorceresses? I've inherited magic I can’t control, which has caused me to blow up my laptop and almost destroy a fifty-thousand-dollar Ming vase. My mother, while cold my whole life, is now even more cracked up than I originally thought, and to top the whole fucking day off, I’m supposed to marry a man I’ve been betrothed to since I was five years old. There's not enough magic or Xanax to fix these problems! Come visit Seattle where all the magic is happening! "

With an intro like that, how could I not pick up this book!

Shays life is totally thrown to bits in 24 hours and is soon feeling the effects of becoming a very powerful sorceress - even if she can control it - it's fun watching her learn and learn she does well - she grasps the basics and learns some big stuff too - she has to beware though as magic can kick back but she has plenty of people around her to keep her on the straight and narrow.

Pierce, I was sure I wouldn't like him as he was suddenly there in Shays life, supposedly betrothed to her, but he grew on me quickly, he wasn't pushy and just tried to be there for Shay - they couldn't fight the attraction even with magic! and soon fell into bed. He's a CEO of his own company and a wealthy man, his also a powerful sorcerer and has some interesting/hot friends and colleagues.

This is a love story of two powerful witches coming together but mixed with that there are mysterious deaths that need investigating and Shay learning more about being a person with magic.

Shay does change when her magic comes in and I did think she became slightly detached as she submerged herself in the investigation - but the person it was aimed at was not very nice so I can let that go.

I loved how much magic is flying around in this book its great fun, I also enjoyed how the witches could sense others approaching and talk telepathically if they wanted, they could shut that down if they chose.

Along with magic there is an abundant amount of money in this book, no one is financially lacking, which always make a story flow well.

So in short you have Magic, mystery, danger, romance, hot men, strong and powerful women and an intriguing and entertaining read.

I enjoyed reading Shays story and would read more from this author.

About Shelly

I grew up in both Florida and Georgia, courtesy of divorced parents. Most of my time in Florida was spent with my paternal Grandma who taught me about antiques, old plantations and what “proper” etiquette was for young ladies. She spent every minute trying to give me the world. Her lessons and love resonate with me every day. When I was thirteen years old she handed me a very big paperback book and told me to dream. From that moment on I have not stopped reading.

I currently live in the Seattle, Washington area. My days are filled with three wonderful young children, four dogs, four cats and a geeky/nerd husband that is still squeeing when a new Star Wars movie comes out.
