Excerpt

I pushed Chris behind me and glanced at Sean, but I shouldn’t have worried. Power glowed in him, visible only to those who knew what to look for. I’d never seen him fight, but it was a bit late to stress about that.Turning back to the alpha and to his second-in-command, I barely had time to react. The beta came at me, snarling, his transformation only half-complete. A wave of power erupted from me and caught the were full on, pushing him back. Behind me, Chris lunged toward the gun. Twisting around, I grabbed the collar of his T-shirt and shoved him back. “Stay there, damn it.”The alpha, having completed his shift, stood in the doorway in the form of a huge timber wolf, eyes glowing and fangs gleaming. I stared him down and stood my ground, the beast growling silently inside me.The beta recovered and came at me again, bypassing his leader. Bundles of compressed power exploded out of me, breaking against the wolf. Bones shattered. It howled in pain, but didn’t stop. So I blasted again. And again. The alpha snarled and lunged at me, faster than I could follow. Fangs sank into my arm. Blood gushed from where the teeth pierced the flesh. The third were, the one facing Sean, let out a strangled sound. Still in human form, he was fighting for breath. Sean’s fingers crushed his windpipe, their gazes locked.I tried to shake off my burden, keeping an eye on the remaining wolf. Pain shot up my hand as the fangs sank deeper. Flames ignited down my arm, burning up his fur and the interior of his mouth. He jumped back with a howl, his sharp teeth tearing at my flesh in the process. Something brushed my calf. The alpha howled again and snarled, stumbling as he tried to get away.

My Review

This an action-packed fantasy/paranormal read.

Alex is a sorceress and a bit of a few other PNR species. She see's a shifter in trouble and decides to help, not realising that she's opening a pandoras box of problems.

There's a good selection of characthers and there is alot of action. Some of the characthers are in a relationship but its not a romance read.

This is book 1 in the series and is an entertaining read.

3.5 stars

About the author

aimee-brissay

Born in Romania, land of the Iele and Vlad the Impaler, AIMEE BRISSAY has spent all her life surrounded by books. She has ridden side by side with d’Artagnan and The Three Musketeers to retrieve the Queen’s diamonds, set sail on the Erasmus in search of the Japans, fell in love with Rhett Butler and roamed the Wild West along Old Shatterhand. She has walked on the footsteps of the Olympian Gods and searched for Zalmoxis’ sanctuary in the Carpathians. In her mind, she’s never been the damsel in distress but rather the knight in shiny armor fighting for a cause.
With a background like this, turning to writing was no surprise.
Aimee discovered erotica early on in life and has never looked back. Now she can write anywhere, even in a crowded room or a busy subway station, but she loves solitude.
When she’s not at her evil day job, she can be found writing or playing with her cat. She welcomes messages from readers and promises to answer all of them as soon as possible.
